Perfection for Tufts
The Tufts Jumbos did it again this time, perfectly. A perfect season is only perfect if you come home with the National Championship, and the Jumbos did just that on Monday, May 25. Their 51st win of the season (and 84th of the programs last 85 games) came over a tough Texas-Tyler team. The Jumbos came back from a 2-0 deficit with a huge six-run rally in the top of the 6th, started off by a home run from 1B Cassie Ruscz and followed with a series of singles, a double and a little help from some Texas-Tyler throwing errors.
Just how tough was Texas-Tyler? If you checked out our last blog about the Jumbos (or hopefully followed their epic season) you’ll know that Senior pitcher Allyson Fournier has been owning the circle this season with a 0.12 ERA. In the 5th, Texas-Tyler Junior, Jackie Mendez managed to drive the only home run Fournier has given up the entire season! Though it may have looked like Texas Tyler had Tufts’s number, the defending national champs knew what it takes to win it all and held their own with a 7-4 final score.
Congratulations to the Jumbos athletes and staff on their DIII National Championship and their perfect season!
NPF Season Kicks Off This Week!
The 2015 National Pro Fastpitch season kicks off this Friday, May 29 with the season opener between the Chicago Bandits and Pennsylvania Rebellion at CONSOL Energy Park in Washington, PA. Not only does it mean the start of the NPF season, but also the return of Monica Abbott to her home shores. Monica will return from Japan in early June, and we’re excited that the countdown has begun to see the sport’s toughest pitcher step into the circle once again in the NPF. And yes, this season, Monica will be rocking Ringor Cleats!
Catch a glimpse of Monica at the Chicago Bandits games this season. They head home to the Ballpark at Rosemont in Rosemont, IL to take on the Racers June 4, 5 and 6, then back to Washington, PA June 8, 9, and 10. You can see the full Chicago Bandits schedule here..
