Fresh off the plane from her season in the Japan Softball League, Monica Abbott took the circle for her first two games of the 2015 National Pro Fastpitch League against the Akron Racers and the Dallas Charge, respectively. Abbott threw the full game on Wednesday, giving up just 4 runs on 5 hits and delivering 10 strikeouts in her new, Ringor Diamond Bandit Spikes. The Bandits improved their record to 8-1 for the season (10-2 as of Monday 6/22) and the Racers fell to 3-6. Against the Dallas Charge, Abbott through a 14 strikeout complete game shutout leading Chicago to a 4-0 victory.
The bats have been hot for the Bandits this season, with the team averaging almost 6 runs per game. Monica is expected to take the circle later this week as the Bandits continue the series against the newest team in the league, the Dallas Charge, and then head back to Akron for another series with the Racers.
