There are a few things in this world that are clear indications of the season. The changing of the leaves bring in fall and their buds welcome spring. And for many of us, the official end of summer begins with the plinking sound of aluminum bats at the Little League Softball World Series.
Since 1974, teams of 11 and 12 year olds from across the country and now the world have been battling it out for a chance to take home the ultimate youth title. This year the tournament returns to Oregon, right in Ringor’s backyard. And you can bet we’ll be cheering on these girls – the future of our sport!
The teams arrive to Portland and attend meetings starting on August 5 and the action kicks off on August 7 with the Central division champs taking on the Oregon District 4 champs. The Semi-Finals and the Finals, August 12 and 13, respectively, will air nationally on ESPN 2, so grab a bag of seeds, kick back and check out the best of the best youth fastpitch softball teams battling it out for the ultimate 11 and 12 year old title. We’ll be watching all of the action and looking at their feet to see who’s wearing Ringor fastpitch softball cleats!
So what should you expect from this year’s Little League Softball World Series? Well, seven of the past eight championships have been dominated by teams from the southwest and southeast parts of the country, representing the West, Southwest, South and Southeast divisions. Teams from the Southwest and West have taken home the past two championships and a second place in 2011, so if a team comes out of Arizona or New Mexico, our eyes will be on them to put up a strong performance. We like the quality of ball coming out of AZ and NM!.
